Maybe it's the northerner in me, but I often don't know when to shut up. Which means I'm great at editing and lecturing.

I once held what is possibly motor sport journalism's toughest job, editing the McLaren Formula 1 team's magazine. I've also been the deputy on Autosport and Racecar Engineering. These days I take on freelance editing gigs. I most recently headed up the Motor Sports Association's quarterly members magazine.

I have let rip my inner School Ma'am with visiting lecturer posts at City University (news and online journalism) and the University of the Arts London (sports journalism). A hugely rewarding way to spend time away from my laptop, even if one cheeky blighter asked me at 37 weeks pregnant, 'you're not having a baby are you Miss?'
